Isn’t it nice to know that despite the career crisis that many older workers experience today, there is still a vast of career opportunities for many of us? It is reassuring to know that we are still valued and are considered to play a key role in the workforce.

Just this month, Adelaide Now posted a news article stating that the state’s peak business group believes older workers possess valuable skills and experiences which will benefit an organisation. According to the article, Business SA encourages employment of mature-aged workers as they are very valuable to businesses.

Opportunities come and go without us even noticing it so it is important to recognise career opportunities as they come our way. A good career opportunity is something which will allow us to grow professionally while enjoying work and life balance.

To recognise these great opportunities, you have to be clear with your career goals. This is why having an effective career plan is important. It is also necessary to show everyone your worth. Be productive. Those who show results are most of the time given the best career opportunities. Don’t just work to meet expectations. Work beyond your boss’ expectations.

There are plenty of career opportunities available to mature workers. We only need to learn to recognise them and take advantage of these opportunities. With that said, it is important to never stop learning. Focus on your career development.
